Kinship With Animals

Welcome to my world! My name is Ann Southcombe. After 36 years of working with animals and forming intense loving bonds with them, I decided to give my heart a rest. I retired from my last job as a clinic tech and caregiver at a wildlife rehabilitation center, I was certain my new career path would be telling the stories about the animals I loved, and teaching you what they taught me. That’s the purpose of
“Kinship With Animals,” to help you understand, animals are more like humans than many people realize. They experience similarly deep emotional feelings and unrecognized intelligence. I never out grew my attachments to animals. Here I am at age 5 with a kitten in one hand, a black cat in the other and my dog coming to my side! Here I am in my 50’s with another cat, Lenny the Canadian Lynx. There is a great need to bring back a connection between humans and nature. One way to do this is teach humans that all non-human animals feel love and pain, not just our pets. By sharing my close connections with the many animals who touched my life, I hope I can inspire others to feel what I feel and together we can all have more respect and compassion for all the creatures who share our planet.
